Silurian.email Basic and Pro

Set up, use and administer an ordinary personal or corporate mailbox hosted in Europe by Silurian.

Public guideReviewed 2026-07-29

What the service is

Silurian.email Basic and Pro provide ordinary personal or corporate email on a customer domain. Both plans use the same Silurian-operated Mailcow platform hosted in Europe, so an upgrade can change entitlement without moving the mailbox or changing mail-client settings.

Basic and Pro

Basic provides one 3 GB mailbox. It is included with a domain registered through Silurian and is requested from Workspace after the registration becomes active; it is deliberately not added during domain checkout. Basic can also be purchased for an external domain. Pro is intended for several users with 10 GB per mailbox, shared calendars and contacts, guided migration and reviewed external-domain DNS. The exact mailbox, quota, retention and price limits shown in the order control the subscription.

Permitted use

Use the mailbox for normal one-to-one and ordinary team communication with employees, customers, suppliers and other legitimate contacts. Protect account credentials, keep devices secure and report a suspected compromise promptly.

Marketing and bulk mail are separate

Do not connect a newsletter, campaign, lead-generation or marketing-automation application to Basic or Pro. Commercial bulk sends to multiple recipients, mailing lists and purchased or scraped lists are prohibited. A future Silurian.email marketing product will use separate infrastructure, consent evidence and delivery controls.

Connection settings

After activation, use the same secure host on desktop and mobile.

  • Incoming mail: mx1-basic-eu.silurian.email, IMAP port 993 with SSL/TLS.
  • Outgoing mail: mx1-basic-eu.silurian.email, SMTP port 465 with SSL/TLS or port 587 with STARTTLS.
  • Webmail: https://webmail-basic.silurian.email/.

Domain and DNS

The domain must publish the MX and authentication records supplied by Silurian. Silurian can apply them automatically when the domain DNS is managed here; an external DNS provider requires its administrator to publish the exact MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records. Do not replace working mail records until the activation plan is confirmed.

Administration from Silurian

The customer Workspace shows the plan, product state and connection settings. When the provider write gate is active, an authorised customer can create mailboxes and aliases, change display names and passwords, suspend or activate access and remove a mailbox without receiving Mailcow administrator access or API keys. Every provider mutation is recorded before the request; an uncertain result is reconciled through provider reads and is never repeated blindly.

Security and anomalous activity

Silurian applies mailbox and domain rate limits, filtering and anomaly monitoring to protect customers and delivery reputation. A compromised or abusive account can be restricted immediately while the owner changes credentials and remediates the affected devices or application.

Delivery and recovery

Recipient providers independently filter, delay or reject email, so inbox placement is not guaranteed. Keep independent copies of information you cannot afford to lose. Backup, retention and restoration commitments apply only when they are expressly stated in the order; a running server or redundant disk is not presented as a customer backup.
